The district is proud to announce that six students from the community have been recognized by the New York State School Music Association for their musical excellence, and as a result, will perform in the All-State Festival at NYSSMA Annual Winter Conference. The conference is scheduled to be held Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 in Rochester.

More than 6,500 sophomores and juniors within the state performed in NYSSMA solo evaluation festivals last spring with the hopes of being selected for All-State. Students had to receive a score between 98 and 100 on their solo performance, judged by a NYSSMA All-State adjudicator, in order to qualify.

East Meadow High School seniors Kelly Anglim and Nathalie Polanco were selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus while Matthew Fried and Dominic Osojnak will participate in the Wind Ensemble. Jesse Hirshon of W.T. Clarke was selected to play with the Symphony Orchestra and classmate Devon Rafanelli will join the Wind Ensemble.

The district also congratulates seven students that were named alternates.  Students from W.T. Clarke are Henry Pengfei Qi and Abishek while East Meadow alternates are Christian Anthony Cang Cuesta, John Meah, Emily Schaffer, Noah Silverman and Emmeline Tobias.

The district congratulates these incredibly talented students for their honors and dedication to music.
