Meadowbrook Elementary School celebrated its recent fundraising success with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients campaign by holding a pair of “Ninja Rally” assemblies on March 22.

Principal Kelly Di Scalfani-O’Brien and Assistant Principal Gail Gallucci opened the first rally by presenting a check for $5,353.51 to LLS representative Kerianne Stein. The amount reflected the total collected by students during the school’s Pennies for Patients series, held over the last two months.

To express school spirit following the fundraiser’s positive outcome, teachers took part in relay race activities. Each grade competed against the others while students proudly cheered on the contenders. The afternoon races featured a team that included Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kenneth A. Card, Jr. and Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Administration, Anthony Russo.

“Congratulations to all of our students for nearly doubling our fundraising total from last year,” said Ms. Gallucci.
