During the district’s annual new teacher orientation on Aug. 30, administrators and staff welcomed 37 new educators to the 2017-18 school year.

Gathered at the Leon J. Campo Salisbury Center, the new faculty had the opportunity to meet administrators, learn about district policies and procedures, and embark on a district tour of all nine buildings, led by Barnum Woods Elementary School Principal Gregory Bottari.

In his welcoming address, Anthony Russo, the district’s Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Administration, welcomed the new staff and thanked them for sharing their talents with the students of East Meadow.

“We are confident that each of you will be a valuable contributor to the fine tradition of student-centered education here in the East Meadow School District,” Russo said.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Card Jr. encouraged the new educators to make an impact in their students’ lives and heighten academic success.

“You will become a valued part of our district vision to provide a quality education for all students,” he said. “We aim to do this by fostering a learning environment that inspires all students to use their given abilities to their highest potential.”
