W.T. Clarke High School senior Alby Joseph has been named one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarship (NMS) Program winners.

Recipients of a National Merit Scholarship are selected from among the competition’s 15,000 finalists based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation evaluates participants on their academic record, school’s curricula and grading system, two SAT scores, school official’s written recommendation, extracurricular activities, leadership and personal essay.

Alby felt honored and excited upon hearing that he had received a $2,500 scholarship award from the NMS. “I am so grateful to have received this scholarship, because only a few people are granted this recognition and it shows me that my hard work has paid off,” he said.

The district congratulates Alby on this tremendous achievement and wishes him much success in his future endeavors.
