Cheering for Clarke’s Cheerleaders

W.T. Clarke High School held a send-off celebration in honor of the varsity cheerleading team competing in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Cheer Championship in Syracuse, New York.
NYSPHSAA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing impartial and safe competition for students of public, parochial and private schools, and is the first organization to clasify cheerleading as a sport in the state.
To qualify, the squad had to place among the top 10% in the County Championship held on Feb. 21 at Wantagh High School.
During the send-off celebration, students, faculty and administration lined the hallways cheering while the Clarke band performed as the team boarded the bus, heading to the competition at Onondaga Community College.
Cheerleading Coach Nicole DiMarco shared how proud she is of the team for competing. “This is a tremendous honor for our team and I am so proud of their dedication, hard work and effort.”
She also thanked the school for hosting this celebration, “The little things like the big send off mean so much to the team and we are so grateful for their support as we head to competition.”
Clarke High School senior and four-year varsity cheerleader Miranda Dell’Olio expressed her excitement about the competition. “The team and I are over excited,” she said. “We have worked so hard and have all this potential to do really well in the championship.”
