Super-‘Readers’ of Meadowbrook

Meadowbrook Elementary School students discovered their superpowers by participating in their Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) celebration.

“Discover Your Super Powers, READ,” a two-week-long PARP celebration, encouraged students to become lifelong readers through action-packed activities. Students read with their superhero partner, created superhero names and shared whom their superhero was.

Dressed as Superman, Wonder Woman and police officers, students welcomed local community heroes including Superintendent of Schools Leon J. Campo, District 13 Legislator Norma Gonsalves and previous Meadowbrook Principal Susan Hyde to read their favorite stories. A few of the stories they read were “Wilma Rudolph: Olympic Runner” by Jo Harper, “Marsupial Sue Presents the Runaway Pancake” by John Lithgow and “Piggie Pie” by Margie Palatini.
